Pros and cons
Pros
- Domain pricing holds steady across the cycle: $14.50 for the first year, $14.50 at renewal and $14.50 to bring a domain in.
- Support spans email, chat and phone, so help does not sit behind a single queue.
- The website builder starts at $3.99 and its e-commerce plan at $15.99, alongside shared hosting, VPS hosting and managed VPS.
- Shared hosting carries a 30 money back window.
Cons
- Free plan: no, so trying the builder means paying from $3.99.
- Renewal of $12.99 sits above the €5.99 typical on the site.
- A shared plan covers 10 websites, so busier projects move up the shared hosting, VPS hosting and managed VPS range.
Who it suits
- Beginners putting a first site online who want hosting and a builder from a single provider.
- Small businesses that need a site, a domain and email together, since free ssl, backups and email come as standard on shared plans.
- Buyers who weigh a 30 money back window before signing a longer term.
Who should look elsewhere
- Render, whose entry point starts at $0, for a plain site or app that needs no full hosting plan.
- Afrihost, priced from ZAR 84, for buyers who pay in rand.
- Hosting.cl, at CLP 159,900 in Chilean pesos, for buyers paying in pesos.
Who runs it
Hostens runs as Interneto vizija, UAB, is based in Lithuania and has been trading since 2003. Support comes through email, chat and phone, so you can reach a person by phone or chat, or browse the help centre and community when the answer is already written down. A named company and home country sit on the record, which helps when you compare who is behind the price.

Frequently asked questions
How much is shared hosting at the start, and what does it cost at renewal?+
Shared hosting opens at $9.99 for 12, then renews at $12.99. Renewal is the number to plan around, and it sits above the €5.99 renewal typical across the site. Budget for the later term, not the first, when you compare plans.
Is there a free plan?+
There is no free plan. The website builder starts at $3.99, and its e-commerce plan at $15.99, so a first site or store means a paid plan from the outset. Around 49% of brands on the site also have no free plan, so this is the common side of the split.
How long do I have to change my mind?+
Shared hosting comes with a 30 money back window, which matches the 30 most common window on the site. You have room to try hosting, the builder and a domain together before you commit to a longer term.
What is included in the shared plan?+
Included features are free ssl, backups and email, and a single shared plan hosts 10 websites. That covers a first site plus a few extras, and the guarantee attached to the plan is 99.95% uptime. Email sits in the plan, so a business address comes with the hosting rather than as a separate buy.
Where does the hosting actually run?+
Hosting runs from Vilnius, Lithuania, Washington DC, USA and Singapore, Asia. That spread covers Europe, North America and Asia, so a site can sit closer to its visitors than a single European server would allow. Pick the region that matches where your audience is and check latency from there.
What does a .com cost, and can I move one in?+
A .com runs at $14.50 in the first year and $14.50 at renewal, so the price does not jump after the first term. Transfers come in at $14.50, and 15 other extensions sit alongside the .com if you want a different name.
Can I build a site or a store without writing code?+
Yes. The website builder covers site and store, with 190 templates to start from, and the e-commerce plan costs $15.99. The builder also sits inside the wider shared hosting, VPS hosting and managed VPS range, so hosting and the site can come from the same provider.
How does the entry price compare with the alternatives?+
Shared hosting opens at $9.99, against $0 at Render, ZAR 84 at Afrihost and CLP 159,900 at Hosting.cl. Those sit in other currencies, so compare the entry point with the renewal you would actually pay.
