What is ASIC?
In short
ASIC is Australia's corporate regulator, and a registered agent service is what keeps an Australian company compliant with it.
ASIC is the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the regulator that keeps the register of companies. Australian companies must have a registered agent at all times, which is why the service is bundled into most formation packages rather than sold as an extra. Lawpath names the regulator directly: its registered agent service is an ASIC agent, listed as ASIC agent. An ASIC registered agent accepts correspondence and official notices on the company's behalf and keeps the registered address current. Renewal is annual, so check the ongoing charge, not just the first year.
