What is Free WHOIS privacy?

In short

Whether a registrar hides the owner of a domain in the public lookup at no extra charge.

Free WHOIS privacy means a registrar replaces your name, address and email in the public domain lookup with their own contact details, at no extra charge. Without it, anyone can look up who owns a domain and where they are, which matters most for a business that does not want its address published. It is an inclusion, not an add-on, at some hosts and a paid extra at others. BanaHosting includes it. AdriaHost, Arsys, Bigrock and Bluehost do not, so check what they charge for it before you register. The protection matters most on a .com, where the public record is easiest to find.
