Our verdict
Nexcess suits small businesses and enterprises that want hosting and domains from one provider, with entry priced at $8.50 a month on a 2 month term and a steady managed range beyond that. It is a broad catalogue rather than a cheap one.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Entry at $8.50 a month sits above the €2.44 floor but under the €5.39 typical across the category
- Renewal at $17 a month keeps long term cost near the €6.14 seen across the ranking
- Data centres in Amsterdam (NL), London (UK) and Sydney (AU) give you a close location for EU, UK, Australian or US visitors
- Free WHOIS privacy and free ssl, backups and staging sit with the plans rather than sold separately
Cons
- The $8.50 rate lasts a 2 month term, so budget from the $17 renewal onward
- A help centre and a community forum are not among its support channels, which are email, chat and phone
- A managed WordPress plan holds 1-25 sites, so larger portfolios need a bigger plan
Who it suits
- Small businesses on WordPress or WooCommerce who want the platform managed for them
- Store owners on Magento who want hosting and domain transfer on one account
Who should look elsewhere
- Shoppers counting every cent at signup, since Render starts at $0
- Buyers in markets where Afrihost at ZAR 84 is a lighter commitment
- Anyone needing a free tier of the kind Render lists at $0
The company behind it
The provider is Nexcess Corp., registered in the United States and trading under the Nexcess name. It was founded in 2000, so the managed platform has a long record rather than a recent launch. Support runs on email, chat and phone, giving you a phone route as well as written help. Enterprise and small business sit side by side in how the catalogue is pitched.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Nexcess cost to start?+
The entry point is $8.50 a month, and that rate is an introductory one covering a 2 month term. Once it passes, the account renews at $17 a month. Plan size moves the figure, so the two prices are worth reading side by side.
What hosting types can you pick from?+
The catalogue lists managed WordPress hosting, managed WooCommerce hosting and managed Magento hosting. You can stay on a managed platform or move up to a server you control more closely. Plans bundle free ssl, backups and staging, so a CDN, staging and backups are part of the package.
Can I move my domain across and keep it private?+
Domain transfer is priced at $15 to $20, and free WHOIS privacy comes as standard with domain registration. That keeps contact details out of public records at no extra cost. Hosting and domains can sit on the same account.
How many sites fit on a managed WordPress plan?+
A managed WordPress plan covers 1-25 sites on the same account. That is room for a main site plus a handful of smaller builds. Larger portfolios would need a step up in plan size.
How reliable is the managed WordPress hosting?+
Managed WordPress hosting carries an uptime guarantee of 100%, which suits sites where downtime costs sales rather than visitors. Support runs on email, chat and phone if something needs attention. Both are stated terms of the service.
Which regions does Nexcess run in?+
Data centres are listed in Amsterdam (NL), London (UK) and Sydney (AU). That covers the United States plus Amsterdam, London and Sydney, so you can pick a location near most of your audience. It is a broad spread for a provider of this size.
Who is Nexcess built for?+
The stated audience covers small business and enterprise, which is why managed WordPress hosting, managed WooCommerce hosting and managed Magento hosting spans from managed platforms to bare metal. Beginners tend to land on the managed side. Larger teams tend to outgrow the 1-25 sites managed WordPress limit and move up.
How do I get hold of support?+
Support runs on email, chat and phone, so there is a direct phone line and live chat rather than email alone. That matters most during a migration or an outage. The provider has operated since 2000.
